For many families, a bathroom is a sacred place used for deep contemplation along with many other things that we won’t go into here. Studies have found that people spend about an hour and 45 minutes every week going to the toilet. With this in mind, it might not be a bad idea to invest a little in this space to improve some of that time spent in complete isolation.
That’s why for my recent birthday I was very pleased my wife gifted me a Xiaomi Smartmi Smart Toilet Seat. Yes, you heard that right. My wife bought me a toilet seat for my birthday. She knew that I had often lusted over the more expensive Japanese equivalents, and this was a very nice compromise that had all of the necessary features.
Some of these features include your necessary bidet and seat warming functions. Also, its self-cleaning system uses a built-in water tank with liquid filter and UV filter to remove any bacteria up to 15 microns.
For RMB 1,000 you really can’t complain. A similar Toto toilet seat would cost you three times that at least. As it is an object that is mostly associated with the Japanese market, you can’t help but think that Xiaomi is humming the tune for “Anything You Can Do (I Can Do Better).” With all of this in mind, it might be just as good as some of the Japanese models, and who really wants to spend RMB 3,000 on a toilet seat anyway. RMB 1,000 on the other hand, you can probably justify.
After a week of using the Xiaomi Smartmi Smart Toilet Seat, I can honestly say that it works. It’s probably weird that it is one of the best birthday presents I’ve received in a couple of years, but please don’t judge me. One of the best parts about getting to experience this device is that we now use far less toilet paper. So not only will this seat be paying for itself in the long run with less TP, but you might also save a couple of trees.
Finally, be aware that before purchasing you need to make sure that you have all the right connections in your bathroom, including an electrical outlet and a water hookup. Other than that, go wild!

Hi, I bought this seat but haven’t installed it yet. My only concerns so far are the filter and water supply tubing. They say in the manual that you should replace the filter every 6-12 months but I couldn’t find any store where I can buy such filter. The same situation is with the water supply, it looks like non-standard and can’t find any replacement in my local stores (in case of leakage etc). Do you know where I can buy these spare parts? I live in Poland.
Really 1000 RMB? I can find it online only for twice that price. Can you provide a link? even Chinese language and shipping to China only is ok.
Here is the Tmall link. https://detail.tmall.com/item.htm?spm=a230r.1.14.1.14c052fc5K88LZ&id=560378462013&cm_id=140105335569ed55e27b&abbucket=19
