One of the biggest weekends of the year is coming up at Western Academy of Beijing (WAB) and they want you to join them!
On Fri, May 24, and Sat, May 25, they’ll be hosting a series of community events with endless amounts of entertainment and activities going on. Below is a breakdown of everything taking place.
FRIDAY
Jazz in the Park, 3pm: Beginning immediately after school, head to the High School campus for some incredible jazz performances. Start the weekend off right by tapping your toes and dancing to some great student and professional jazz musicians.
Identity Film Festival, 6pm: As the evening progresses, bring out your blankets and grab some snacks to watch some of the best student-created films from around WAB and the Beijing schools community. Tune in and hang out to see who will take home some of the coveted prizes.
SATURDAY
Rock in the Park, 2-8:30pm: Rock in the Park features a full day of artistic performances. There will be student bands, solo acts, and dancers, as well as some of Beijing’s most entertaining performers on campus throughout the day. The HUB Peace Park will be full of organizations, vendors, and activities for you to eat, shop, and goof around.
WAB Leavers’ Farewell Celebration, 2pm: A special event for families and friends leaving WAB to celebrate time spent with the WAB community. Leaving families are invited to come to the Chinese Garden outside of the Elementary School for a family portrait, a special gift, and to sign up for the WAB Alumni Network. WAB’s Director will also be there to share a few remarks and cut a cake to wish everyone farewell.
Fun Fair, 3-6pm: Tiger Field turns into a wild theme park of inflatable play areas, water games, and activities. Sponsored by the Parent Link community, this is the perfect time for younger children and families to enjoy some fun in the sun while staying cool. Make sure that children are wearing water-friendly clothes and shoes, and a hat and sunglasses might be a good idea, too! Parents, please contact parentlink@wab.edu if you’d like to volunteer even just one hour on the day of the event.
WAB Alumni Reunion, 8:30pm: WAB Alumni students, families, and staff are invited to join us at Fella’s for Rock off the Park. This is a great chance to catch up with old friends over a few light snacks.
