Living in Beijing it can be easy to forget that clean air is a right for all people, as without one of those expensive 20,000 RMB purifiers your lungs are ultimately at risk. Well, there is a solution to this dilemma, and it will only cost you RMB 200. Yes, it might require a little elbow grease, but through joining Smart Air’s DIY Workshop, they can teach you how to build a decent air purification system on a budget.
If you have been in Beijing for a couple of years, then you may have encountered these innovators that have taken the air purification world by storm, with their simple concept that a filter attached to a fan is pretty much all you need to make a difference. In their own words “Smart Air China is a small social enterprise that promotes DIY air purifiers as a low-cost solution to indoor particulate air pollution in China.”
At this workshop, you will learn the benefits of their contraption and where you can cheaply order all of the necessary parts to keep those beautiful lungs belonging to you and yours squeaky clean. The event will go down on the 5th floor of the Xinhua Culture Mansion in Jiadaokou, from 3-4pm next Saturday. It’s free to attend, but if you want all of the necessary gear to start living a precious clean air lifestyle, then you’ll need to drop RMB 200 for the fan, filter, and velcro strap combo.
If you’re still not convinced that a DIY air purifier can compete with the big boys, here’s a nifty page of data that pits this little guy against popular brands like Blue Air, Phillips, and IQ Air using a particle counter to accurately measure the difference between the different brands.
Just imagine all of that cheaply purified air you could be breathing due to this nifty little workshop. For more info check out the event listing here, or head over to their webpage for loads more info on the Smart Air team. Those interested in registering for this workshop can do so online here.
