Make sure to mark your calendars for Keystone’s Annual Community Carnival happening this May 20. With a Beatles theme, seasonal appropriate water fun, market, and lots of food, there will be a lot of fun to choose from to kick your summer off on the right foot.
We talked with a Keystone representative who gave us the lowdown, saying that “this is Keystone’s largest event that is free of admission and open to the public. The sports field will be filled with bouncy castles, water slides, and tons of activities for children between the ages of 5-18 to enjoy. It’s the hot end of May, so the majority of the games are water based. KS staff are running the activities, and the whole Keystone community will be participating. It’s a great opportunity for people to come to the school grounds and get a sense of the spirit of KS.”
As for entertainment, they enlisted the help of The Beijing Beatles. They are a group of popular Beijing lads, that play a lengthy list of the Fab Four’s greatest hits. Known as one of the most well-regarded cover bands in the city, they are very proficient in not only getting people to “Come Together,” but also “Twist and Shout.” Who doesn’t enjoy a little rambunctious rock n’ roll on occasion? They will also be supported by the winner of the Annual Keystone Battle of the Bands. That’s a double dose of rock for that music loving maniac in the family.
Maybe you are more excited about participating in the timeless tradition of commerce, then there will be plenty of vendors selling books, toys, and handicrafts. In addition to this, at the carnival there will also be some community groups, and charities present showcasing some of the work Keystone students do in the community. This is great especially if you are looking for some socially responsible activities to fill your summer break with.
Eventually, you will likely get a little tired from all that shopping around, water play, or rocking with the Beijing Beatles, so expect a variety of food options on site that should satisfy the eclectic hungers of your entire family. If you have dietary restrictions, or are just a better chef than most, you are welcome to bring your own food to the event as well.
Entrance to Keystone’s Annual Community Carnival is free, but if you are planning to participate in the games section on the sports field, there is an RMB 50 charge. This price includes a waterproof bracelet that lets your kids access the fun for as long as they want, or as long as you parents can keep up.
Even if you aren’t already a member of the Keystone family, this is the perfect opportunity to check out the campus and discover what they are about and how they celebrate the end of the academic year in style. So get ready to experience all the creative good times Keystone has available at this wonderful event.
