According to an article in Global Times, China is upping the stakes for singers who lip-sync during live performances. Adding on to a national ban that followed an especially adorable little Chinese girl lip-synching during Beijing’s Olympic Opening Ceremony, the new regulations will revoke the performance licenses of any group caught lip-synching twice within two years. Those caught helping the offenders could be facing fines of RMB 10,000 (USD 1,470). Hopefully the new legislation will be an effective deterrent to all those performers trying to cheat their audiences out of a live performance.
