They say the “terrible twos” is the worst stage of childhood but I don’t agree, parenting a four-year-old is much harder than a two-year-old. My daughter had her share of tantrums and aggression this year. We started to incorporate some breathing, mindfulness, and calm time at home to take the edge off the tantrums and to have better tools for working through emotions. I found some tools online which can be used with kids, and are helpful for adults as well. Have a look at these cute apps; I have been using Calm myself and slowly we slide into a calm and collected 2018.
Calm
This app focuses on sleep, relaxation, and meditation, with guided meditations that help you sleep easier. Both parents and kids will love this app. I have been using this app to feel a bit more mindful, and it’s working wonders. Find out more here.
Breathe, Think, Do with Sesame
This educational app guides the kids through five scenarios. You can go back and revisit problems when kids are struggling. This app is a great resource to share with kids; they learn problem solving, planning, and self control. There is even a parent section with resources and video clips. Find the app here.
Breathing Bubbles
Somebody pointed out this emotional regulation app, which helps kids focus on releasing worry or joy. I know my daughter has a hard time labeling her emotions and struggles to move on from the feeling. The bubble will help her to breathe through the emotions. Find out more about the app here.
