Professional coaches from German-based VfL Wolfsburg Football Club are visiting Beijing to conduct on-the-spot training of students as well as teachers at primary and middle schools in Mentougou District in Beijing, reported Beijing Daily on May 2.
Mentougou educational authority reached an agreement with the Club on June 6 2017 which lasts for three years, to cooperate on various aspects including improving coaching resources and launching football contests. Introduction of expat football expert coaches is one of the driving measures.
The coaches will work in various football schools in Mentougou, including Dayu No.1 Primary School and Xinqiaolu Middle School, and will stay for two months to not only give football classes but also to give instructions on writing football coaching materials.
According to the report, more coaches from the Club will be sent in the second half of this year, to offer training to other schools located in Mentougou.
Since 2015, Beijing has staged a mission to greatly improve football education in schools, announcing seven major initiatives including setting up more youth football training centers, and adding at least one compulsory football class once a week, according to Beijing Times.
The number of football expertise schools is also on the rise in China. There are currently ten of them in Mentougou.
