As any parent will tell you, kids grow up fast – and nothing makes that more obvious than the way they keep growing out of their clothes. If you have clothes still in good condition but which are just too small for your rapidly sprouting offspring, then why not save yourself some money by swapping them, and make some money for a good cause at the same time?
Girl Scout Troop 15 has organized a Charity Clothing Swap, to take place this Saturday (November 17) at Roundabout’s Boutique and Community Center in Cathay View Plaza, Shunyi. We asked troop leader Laura Lyman to tell us more.
“You can bring any used kids’ clothing or shoes for all ages (babies, toddlers, children and teens) in good condition (no stains, tears, or holes!) and have the opportunity to swap for new clothes. You will receive tickets based on how many clothes you bring in, and you will use those to swap.”
If you have no clothes to bring, you can still take part, Lyman said.
“All clothes will be 10 rmb a piece if you have no tickets. If you just want to donate, starting Wednesday November 14 Roundabout will accept donations for the event at their store. Please clearly mark ‘Troop 15 Clothing Swap’ on the bag.”
Troop 15 will provide light snacks and beverages at the event, which will raise money for the New Hope Foundation, which cares for children with severe disabilities.
“It was really important for the girls that the money raised went towards a charity that focused on the needs of children and helping children,” Lyman told us. “We researched a few of the charities in the area; however, for the girls, New Hope really stood out, and having worked with New Hope in the past we know New Hope provides amazing loving care to the children they care for. And the girls really wanted to be able to help out this wonderful organization so they can continue to provide for the healthcare needs of the children.”
