Have you ever tried to get rid of your flaws, or something unbearable in your life? French family puppet show Anatole’s Little Saucepan will take you through a child’s mental journey of dealing with something unbearable in his life and finally living with it in harmony, from Oct 17 to 27 at Er Qi Theatre.
Anatole’s Little Saucepan is adapted from French author Isabelle Carrier’s award winning picture book. In 2015, It was also adapted into an short animated film, directed by Eric Montchaud. The film was nominated in the category of Best Animated Short Film for the prestigious César film awards in 2015.
The little boy Anatole has been dragging his small saucepan behind him for a long time. It fell on him one day, for no apparent reason. Since then, it keeps getting stuck and prevents him from going forward. Anatole has had enough, until one day something beautiful happens.
The whole play explains in depth how one’s flaws can be finally transformed into something to be proud of. By using simple but appropriate stage and lighting effects, and delightful dolls and props, it creates a pure moment of tenderness and a scene full of imagination.
