Are you ready to relinquish complete control of your vacation to your kids? Sounds a little too liberal you say? Well how about giving them their own travel guide, that sounds fair, doesn’t it?
kidsGo! is a new series of travel books that are designed to maximize your child’s vacation experience. The books are aimed at 7 to 14 year olds and, according to the publisher Haven Books, ‘will get vacation-bound kids thinking about their destination, engaged in the process of planning itineraries, and armed with suggestions for mom and dad on where to go.’
The family vacations of my youth consisted of being led by my good-intentioned parents without a proper debriefing. At times, this wouldn’t exactly provide for a complete understanding of why we were seeing whatever it was we were seeing. Travel guides like this could provide a bit more coherency to the family trip, and eliminate a couple are we there yet comments along the way.
Haven promises that the books will include ideas that satisfy all members of the family – not just the tweens. Each section will include fun facts, do’s and dont’s and interesting historical information. The books are colorful and include maps – all they’re missing is a little backpack to be put into.
There are currently 6 guides: Sydney, Phuket, New York, Bali, Hong Kong and London.
You can order them or get more information from the press’s website. Each book costs around USD 10.
