*Have you ever wanted to learn a little more about Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) but have been reluctant to dive right in? Beijing United Family Healthcare has a series of spring seminars held at the Dulwich Early Years Childhood Centre campus location (River Garden), and on Tuesday, April 12 at 10 a.m. you can learn more about the TCM approach to health care at this free event. *Also at Dulwich on Saturday, April 16, Roundabout will have another local book fair from 10am-3pm. All proceeds of book sales go for various charitable needs in China, so come support Roundabout and pick up a few good reads!
*Plan way ahead for an upcoming car boot sale at the British School of Beijing, especially if you’re interested in clearing out some of your own things. Mark Sunday, May 8 on your calendar at 9:30am for this event, with money raised going towards Little Flower children’s home. Cost is RMB 100 per space and RMB 50 per table if you need one provided. *With spring in the air, perhaps you’re considering having family photographs taken. I’d like to personally recommend Felix Photography Studio, now located off of Jingshun Lu near the Secrets of Africa and Cici’s Burgers location. Contact Iris at 136 8115 3930 for information. Both of these professionals worked with Imagine Studio before venturing out on their own, and they do an excellent job of preserving special family memories!
*Speaking of Secrets of Africa, I believe it has officially moved now to the strip center of stores and restaurants next to WAB. I haven’t personally been there yet, but I can imagine that it’ll be a great location near the school. Good luck to them!
*Golf anyone? The Bobby Miller Golf Academy has moved from the Dulwich College Legend Garden Campus to the Tian Zhu Golf club, about 10 minutes away from the original location. Beginners or seasoned golfers will have highly trained coaches work with them, beginning April 11 with group lessons every Monday and Thursday from 10-11am. *If interested in the above – or in any sports activity – you MUST go to Tiger Sports in Pinnacle Plaza. Over the past couple of years the size of the store has decreased, and now it is closing for good as of April 30. It’s unfortunate, as – while the prices were not cheap – it was convenient to have a sporting goods store nearby if you couldn’t quite get out to Decathlon. However, right now they are having a 50% off discount on store goods, so be sure to check it out!
*The Bookmark Library Reading Room (inside Piazza Café, across from Capital Paradise) will host two special presentations this month. A Conversation with Bei Ye: A Theory of Chinese Civilization: An Easy Way to Understand Chinese Culture, on Sunday, April 10 from 2-4pm, features Beijing author and social worker Mr. Bei Ye as he shares his understanding of the Chinese way of life from the ancient past to contemporary times. And on Friday, April 12 from 1:30-3pm, come as China Daily contributor, Beijing blogger and beijingkids columnist Dinah Chong Watkins reads her humorous articles, discusses the writing process and kicks off a new interactive Writers’ Workshop in Letters from Abroad: Musings on Writing & Life.
