Mid-Autumn Moon Festival Party
The Black Sesame Kitchen team, who host some of the best cooking classes in Beijing are hosting a special Mid-Autumn-themed moon festival party all day this Thursday at their newly opened restaurant Qianmen Kitchen. Come along to enjoy mooncake making, baking and crafts, dumpling and tea tasting, and tours of the charming hutongs around the venue.

Frida Kahlo and Her Mexican Inspiration
Looking for something to keep the kids entertained for a few days in a row this Golden Week? This special art course, a collaboration between Blossom Montessori and Atelier Art School which runs every day from Friday, Oct 2 to Tuesday, Oct 6 is all about legendary Mexican artist Frida Kahlo, and her unique cultural background, and how this influenced her art. Each day, there will be two separate sessions with the first (1.30-3.30) aimed at kids from 6-8 years old, and the second (4-6pm) for kids 9 years old and up.

The Great Race: Team Scavenger Hunt 2020!
This Saturday, teams of six will take to the streets of Beijing completing challenges, obstacles, and dares in a super fun team scavenger hunt. Beijingkids is proud to be a media partner of this fun community event, which is organized by local organization The Great Human Connection. It’s about team building, participation, collaboration, and most of all: fun. This event may not be suitable for very small children, as it will involve a lot of racing about and be rather fast-paced, but older kids and tweens will especially love this adventure, and all proceeds from the event will go towards MCF (Migrant Children’s Foundation) and Our Learning House, who are both working to support disadvantaged children.

The Hutong’s MasterChef Cooking Course
Fancy yourself a whiz in the kitchen? This three-day course by The Hutong will make sure of it! Combining a mix of food-related workshops and hands-on cooking classes, it is a fantastic opportunity to deepen your knowledge of Chinese culture via food. Highlights from the course including making hand-pulled noodles, learning about Chinese tea tasting, a TCM approach to cooking, and how to navigate a Chinese wet market… not to mention a lot of delicious food! This one is best for older children and teens.

Hutong Tour by Bespoke Beijing
If your eyes widened at the previous image, then this tour is definitely for you. One of the most beloved tours in the Bespoke Beijing calendar, the Hutong Tour takes visitors through some of the city’s oldest and most historic hutong neighborhoods. Starting with a special performance at the Drum Tower, visiting a private museum collection of 20th-century artifacts (including vintage kids toys), and stopping by to visit Mr. Liu, cricket-trainer extraordinaire, this tour is great fun for all ages and especially suited to newcomers.
