This past week we’ve received conflicting reports that camps have been told to cancel any remaining sessions for the summer. On Aug 11, the Beijing Toutiao reported that according to the latest announcement by the Beijing Education Commission, any non-essential summer activities should be postponed, cancelled, or moved online. What’s more, primary and secondary schools should stop organizing offline summer activities in accordance with the latest Covid prevention and control requirements.
Simply put, all types of summer camps and activities should stop immediately.
For what it’s worth, the announcement comes at the end of summer when most international schools were originally scheduled to start the next school year, meaning most summer camps were already wrapping up anyways.
However, as of today, there’s still at least one camp that’s going ahead with their summer activities. In light of the back-to-school delay, Flips and Kicks have decided to extend their dates through the end of August.
Remember the Flips and Kicks Action Movie Summer Camp with Jackie Chan’s stunt team? Well, that camp has officially been extended for two extra weeks. Just as before, two-way transportation from BSB Sanlitun, Lido, and WAB are available.
But that’s not all. Flips and Kicks is adding a Swim Camp too! The Flips and Kicks Plus Swimming Camp will be conducted by Coach Adam, a PE teacher as well as a trainer at the UK-based Royal Life Saving Society, who holds an Amateur Swimming Association (ASA) certificate. The RLSS is the UK’s leading provider of water safety education, while the ASA is the national governing body of swimming qualifications in England. So rest assured that Coach Adam is qualified to teach your kids how to swim, in a safe environment. Camp participants will be split into two groups based on swimming ability – Group A being beginners and Group B for middle/advanced. There will be an assessment to determine your child’s level.
