Ladies and gentlemuggles, I am pleased to present to you jingkids‘ latest find on our Big Beijing Birthday Party List – this magical Harry Potter-themed villa designed for birthdays and family staycations. Located practically across the street from Universal Studios Beijing, this little gem opened a mere six months ago and has already hosted many a birthday party.
Decked out with broomsticks on the wall, wands on every maple-wood desk, and even the Sorting Hat, this place has taken more than a few pages from the Harry Potter books to create a decidedly magical Hogwarts for all of us decidedly non-magical folk. The high-back wood chairs in the dining room conjure an enchanted atmosphere capable of transporting you and your guests straight to the wizarding world. They even have robes representing every house that you can wear – just remember to return them before you leave.
On top of its Hogwarts-inspired decorations, there are some practical touches that make the place ideal for a kids’ birthday party. We saw a wooden LEGO play table in the living room of the two-story villa. Plus, there is a long slide that goes around the corner of the house and plunges into a colorful ball pit, which kids of all ages will definitely enjoy. Not to mention the charming soaking bath where the water pours out of a pair of majestic lion heads, which could be fun for a bubble party or even an intimate bubble bath, you know, after the festivities.
At this point, you’re probably wondering about the price, and I’m happy to report the venue can be rented for a reasonable RMB 4,000 for the day – around 2pm to 10pm – and RMB 5,000 if you wish to spend the night. The villa boasts a total of four rooms with double beds and bunk beds, and the staff recommends that about 11 people stay, which brings the individual bill to approximately RMB 400. Add another RMB 1,000 if you’re booking the place on the weekends. This price does not include food or drink, but they will throw in a two-layer Harry Potter birthday cake to sweeten the deal. You are welcome to bring your own F&B, and waimai deliveries are well-received at the door. Likewise, there is a restaurant on-site, but their menu is mostly barbecue meats which may not be best for young ones to stomach.
