One of the defining icons of Christmas is undeniably the Christmas tree – whether you get a real one, or fake one – you just gotta have one. In this post we share where we get our favorite, tried-and-tested Christmas trees!
Real Christmas Trees
Expat Services Shop had started offering their real Christmas trees since end October and many can attest to the efficiency of their service. Their Norway Spruce trees range from 80cm to 2.7m and come with the pot and soil to keep the tree alive until the New Year. They also offer free shipping China-wide. Prices start from RMB 295 and go up to RMB 1,095. Scan the QR code in the image to talk to their customer service.
Editor Sanja Stojkov previously shared her personal contact Mr. Wang Xu – who has been her go-to guy for Christmas trees three years in a row. All trees have been lush and beautiful and come with a root and in a pot, so if you water them regularly they can last you for a long time. You can also choose to replant it after the holidays. The free pot they come with is plastic, but if you want to go for the rustic look, you can add RMB 200 and have your tree delivered in a wooden barrel pot. Mr Xu is also able to retrieve the tree after Christmas to dispose of it properly, or replant it if you kept it alive well enough!
A friend to every foreigner here in Beijing, MyPengYou has been offering expat-friendly services – so naturally, they also have real Christmas trees and wreaths with free delivery within the 5th ring road, although you might need to pay extra if you live in a building without an elevator.
Roundabout Christmas Trees
Our favorite charity-driven thrift and vintage store Roundabout just announced that their Christmas decorations and trees are on display and ready to go home with you starting tomorrow (17 Nov)! They have a great range of Christmas goodies including many fake trees that will last you a lifetime. Don’t forget that everything goes to helping kids who are battling terminal illnesses so shop generously!
TaoBao / JD
If you’re out of all other options, there’s always good ‘ol TaoBao or JD to the rescue. Able to deliver a real or fake tree within 24 hours at the fastest, simply search 圣诞树 (shèngdànshù) for all your Christmas tree options, and add the word ‘real’ or ‘真’ for real Christmas trees. At the time of writing, prices start from as low as RMB 50 for a 50 – 70cm fake tree and RMB 55 for a real tree of the same approximate height. Of course, we can’t speak for every vendor so make sure you choose well!
