Can you believe it’s June already?! There are end-of-year school parties and celebrations, final shopping trips, and planning for home leave visits. These last couple of weeks will breeze by, I’m afraid, but everyone is most definitely feeling ready for summer break.
*There’s a new small cafe/bar in Pinnacle Plaza – Paddy’s Pit Stop. I believe it’s owned by the same people who run Pomme O’Sheas in the former Pomegranate location, and while I haven’t eaten there yet, I did stop by to check out the menu. You’ll find typical bar food available, with main courses including burgers (including veggie), fish ‘n chips, and steak sandwiches. There are daily specials there, sometimes including buy-one-get-one-free meals or beverages. What’s best are the many outdoor tables with umbrellas, for patio dining. We’ve lost several places like that in the area (Blue Frog and Za’atar, to name a couple), so it’s nice to see some of these new outdoor dining establishments open up.
*The Beijing REGO British School is offering a free Saturday Class to let families and students meet their teachers and see what the school is all about. All international and local students ages 4-18 are welcome to come from 10am-noon to explore REGO’s math, science, drama, music, art, sports, and language activities. This “trial” class began on May 21 and continues through June 25. The Shunyi school is located at No. 15 Liyuan Road right across from Merlin Champagne Town. If interested, register by sending your child’s name and year group to sarah.hancock@bjrego.org or call 6465 4487.
*Mark your calendars for a very special charity concert called “Children Are the Future” on Sunday, June 12. With all proceeds going to charity and all musical performances by students of Claire’s Music Studio, this is a Sunday afternoon treat not to miss. For more info, click here.
*Here’s an early reminder for those of you still in the area in mid-June. INN continues its monthly coffee mornings and it’s a great way to connect with others in the neighborhood. Come to Mrs. Shanen’s Bagels & Café on Thursday, June 16 from 10am-noon – everyone welcome!
*Stuck with what to get for your child’s teacher or others who have helped throughout the year? Check back with the blogs on Friday to see a list of ideas from former Room Moms, as well as from teachers themselves! If you’ve collected your classroom money, don’t miss this list of great ideas!
