Located in the heart of the city, Yuyuantan Park spans over 136 hectares, making it one of Beijing’s largest urban parks. While the park boasts a diverse range of attractions, including serene lakes, lush gardens, and winding pathways, it is the cherry blossoms that truly steal the show during the spring season.
Every year, usually from late March to early April, Yuyuantan Park bursts into a riot of pink hues as thousands of cherry trees come into full bloom. The park’s Cherry Blossom Festival attracts visitors from far and wide, offering a unique opportunity to witness this fleeting spectacle of nature.
As visitors meander through the park’s winding paths, they are greeted by a canopy of cherry blossoms in varying shades of pink and white. The air is filled with the sweet fragrance of flowers, creating a serene and tranquil atmosphere that transports visitors away from the hustle and bustle of city life.
Photography enthusiasts flock to Yuyuantan Park during the Cherry Blossom Festival to capture the beauty of the blooms against the backdrop of the park’s scenic landscapes. From close-up shots of delicate petals to panoramic views of blooming trees reflected in the park’s tranquil lakes, there are endless opportunities for stunning photographs.
So how can you avoid getting trapped behind flocks of tourists all fighting for the same picturesque spot? Follow our tips:
1: Don’t enter from the east gate. That’s the most popular for visitors and you’re sure to get caught up in long lines.
2: Get an idea of the layout of the park. The northwest corner of the park is where you’ll find the most cherry blossoms and the closest gates are the north and west gates.
3: If you’re hoping to get the best photos, 10am and 4pm are going to give you the best lighting since the sun’s at 30 and 60 degrees respectively. It gives you that well-lit natural light look without glaring directly overhead.
