ROUNDABOUT CLEARANCE SALE
Starting on Sunday, October 9 at 9.30am, Roundabout Charity’s store will be full of great bargains. Look out for: paintings, furniture, toys, games, baby equipment, electronics, photo frames, crafts, kitchenware, sports gear, new clothing, shoes (in large sizes too), CDs, candles, bags, and more!
WHY IS THIS SALE HAPPENING?
Once again, Roundabout is on the move. This time the whole village is coming down. Estimated time for demolition is the end of October. Roundabout has been looking for an affordable, permanent home for about two years now. Roundabout is at a loss and cannot bear the thought of closing down completely.
The fantastic folks at River Garden in Shunyi have offered free use of a piece of land in a great location, but Roundabout would still need portable type buildings to put on that land.
HOW YOU CAN HELP
Let your friends know about the clearance sale! This week, they have spent the holiday packing things to go out to charities and putting out items "ready to sell" in the store. Their shelves are stocked, with lots more ready to repack those shelves, so if you can’t make it on Sunday then do come another day!
They will keep sending out trucks of supplies to those in need, so please keep donations coming in.

Please let Roundabout know if you can help in anyway – be it a suggestion on a location, or an offer from your company to sponsor rent of a higher priced location.
LOCATION REQUIREMENTS
Must be easy for people to get to to drop off their donations and to shop. Their trained workforce (volunteers and staff) are almost all from the Shunyi area.
Must be accessible to local Chinese people as not only do they account for a large percentage of our sales, but the long-term goal of Roundabout is to eventually have Chinese people running this type of charity for their fellow countrymen. This means a guarded compound would not be suitable for a new store location.
BOOK FAIR UPDATE
Read our previous blog post on the fair here.
The Roundabout Charity Book Fair at the British School of Beijing in Shunyi has currently raised just over RMB 135,000. RMB 120,000 will be given to New Hope Foster Care Home for hospital costs for little baby Harith, who is being treated at Beijing United Family Hospital. They would also like to be able to pay for a cataract operation for four-month-old Zheng Silin (from The Blue Sky Healing Home).
Roundabout is still hoping to reach a goal of raising RMB 150,000. The book fair will still be on until WEDNESDAY of next week (October 19). A new selection of kid’s books was put out two days ago. Also, new adult books are put out on a regular basis.
Pop by the book fair at British School of Beijing (Shunyi campus) on Monday or Tuesday from 9.30am to 3.30pm. Pick up some last minute book bargains and help Roundabout reach their RMB 150,000 target!
SING ON A CHRISTMAS CHARITY CD
Calling all budding singers! If you would like to audition for the chance to sing (in a group, or perhaps solo) on a Christmas Charity CD, now is your big chance. Claire’s Music Studio and Roundabout have joined forces to make a charity CD that will be sold in order to raise money to purchase coal for orphanages who are in extreme need. Sadly, every year many children in orphanages lose fingers and toes due to frostbite because their orphanage has no money to purchase coal for heating.
Please look at the attached flyer (above) for full details of how you can be a part of this great project.
*HURRY though. Apply by WEDNESDAY OCTOBER 12* (extended from the date shown on the flyer). Email thecharitystore@gmail.com.
ANY AGE is welcome – so grab your family and friends and have some fun!
