In our expat community, we are fortunate to be exposed to many different charity groups with which we can join or support. All have commendable causes near and dear to their hearts, and it’s touching to see how their work literally changes lives.
“Change For Life,” one of these fantastic charity groups, cordially invites you to attend the inspirational art exhibition “Paintings for Life,” from November 7-20 at the French Institute. With more than 20 paintings created by hearing impaired children of Qinghai Province, this exhibit will conclude with a charity auction event held on the last day. The exhibit offers an opportunity to have the creative and talented children show their works and have their voices heard, in spite of the distance that separates a big city like Beijing from the villages of Qinghai Province. Money raised will allow Change For Life to provide hearing aids for these children, as well as improvements for their school.
Change For Life is a group of Scandinavian women that began in 2008. Wanting to help disadvantaged children, the name of the charity was selected because they hoped to positively make a difference for children’s futures. With about 15 members from around the world, this Shunyi-based group funds different projects in the Qinghai Province. A large number of children in this province are suffering from hearing loss due to mistreated infections when they were smaller; many more live under very poor conditions. Through private and corporate donations, Change For Life has helped more than 200 hearing impaired children to a better life, providing them with hearing aids in collaboration with GN Resound.
Visit the charity’s website at www.changeforlife.se for information about their monthly coffee morning meetings, as well as to see the other projects they work on. Find out how you can get involved with the group or support the work they do by contacting info@changeforlife.se.
