Another convention at the International Exposition Center means that there is insane traffic in our area. Just driving home is a nightmare, not to mention going to and from schools or attempting to park at Euro Plaza. Today I saw traffic gridlock with two lanes–out of three–completely blocked by parked taxis waiting for expo patrons. I am sure there is a logical explanation (!), but can someone tell me why expo attendees are not forced to use the ginormous parking lot that is actually AT the Expo Center?!
Other things going on in Shunyi:
*Euro Plaza has had various promotions over Chinese New Year and even through Valentine’s Day. Now, any female customer who spends over RMB 380 there between 10am-8pm on Thursday March 8 will have the opportunity for one lucky draw at the customer service area, and the chance to win a great gift!
*INN’s Shunyi Coffee Morning will be held on Thursday, March 15 from 10am-noon. As of last month, please note the NEW location of Starbucks in Pinnacle Plaza. With the likely move of Mrs. Shanen’s in the near future and their somewhat hidden location these days, Starbucks is a great option for many in the area.
*The Learning Center, located in Gahood Villas, offers SAT mock exams to determine learning needs on Saturday, March 31 and again on Saturday, April 28, both at 9am. Application fee is RMB 100, which can be applied to tuition once you sign up for one of the TLC SAT Prep courses (these are offered beginning in July , with three options available). *So many people often ask where they can donate various items to charity. In addition to Roundabout, local orphanages, and many other organizations that you hear of through friends and schools, New Life Center continues to welcome donations of various kinds to help their children (click here for a previous post on their work). Items such as bedding, towels, food, toys, some clothing, personal cleansing items like soap and shampoo are welcome, as are cash donations. *Paul’s Steak & Eggs, located in the River Garden clubhouse, now has weekly specials: Monday Pizza Night (buy one get the second at half price); Tuesday Burgers (buy one get the second at half price); Wednesday Kids (one kid eats free with purchase of one adult meal); Thursday Pasta (20% off all pasta); Friday Fish & Chips (buy one get the second at half price); and Saturday Rib eye Steak (imported steak with free dessert of the day for RMB 140).
