In an interesting, to say the least, new venture, Dunkin’ Donuts Group Inc. has recently launched a new pork flavor donut with the aim of catering to Chinese tastes. The company hopes to branch out with around 100 new stores across China over the next two or three years. Chief Executive Officer Nigel Travis explained in an interview that “donuts are a very flexible product” and that the new pork flavor donuts are just one of several savory varieties of the normally sweet snack that the company is exploring. Travis explains that catering to the tastes of a country is crucial to selling the product. By 2015, Dunkin Brands (which consists of Dunkin Donuts and Baskin Robins) hopes to open at least 250 new stores across the whole Asia-Pacific region.
