*Uh, oh…beware. The Auto Show is coming to the Expo Center from April 23 – May 2. I’m sure some of that is set-up time; regardless, prepare for traffic nightmares near the Euro Plaza area. A couple of years ago they diverted school bus traffic, and even canceled some ASAs due to the horrendous traffic, issuing special placards for residents to get through local roadways. I haven’t heard of anything like that this time, but I’m already planning to get a full tank of gas before that time, and not even considering going to Euro.
*It’s great to have Mrs. Fields in Pinnacle Plaza when you want a little cookie treat, but it’s a little on pricey side (RMB 9 for one cookie, anyone?). However, they have an early evening special before closing when you can indulge for less. From 7:30-9pm, stop by for: six cookies for RMB 27; 12 nibblers for RMB 21; or four muffins for RMB 24.
*Turkish Blue Eyes, the wonderful store on the loft floor of Tammy’s Wins Art & Framing shop (Pinnacle), continues to have great new products. In addition to new styles of jewelry, there are now Turkish mosaic lamps and candle holders as well as ceramic bowls in whirling dervish and tree of life designs. It’s a great little shop with the charming Yelda running the business – stop by to see her soon!
*Blame it on poor location, but the “new” restaurant Black Milk is gone already. Tucked behind Hair Show in the alley that leads to the golf range, this had little chance for survival. I’m not even sure how long it’s been gone as I only discovered it while making a turn on that road this weekend.
*Zen Yue Spa has found a space in Pinnacle, next to Baskin Robbins. Formerly O’Brien’s, then a wine bar, we now await to see if this business succeeds in that location.
*Do you have budding artists in your family? If so, check out Dawn’s Art and Culture Center, with classes held all around villas and schools in Shunyi. Contact teacher Wang at 13621051866 or 13910065389 to check on classes for children two years old and older.
*So, I was going to take a picture of Big Paul’s Grocery Store, the fruit market that I just noticed next to Hair Show in Pinnacle Plaza. But when I went there today, it was empty. Does this mean it has come and gone already? Or perhaps they are just fixing it up? I know I don’t notice every change in our neighborhood, but I really didn’t think it had been there that long…
