Though there is no shortage of shopping options in the Wangjing/Lido area, there really isn’t a mall on par with the likes of The Village or Solana. That was until now, Indigo Mall is in soft opening mode with stores like The Gap, Page One, Kidsland, and Bla Bla Bra. Though only about a dozen or so more shops are currently open along with a McDonalds and Costa Coffee, more will be opening soon. Much of the 87,000sqm shopping behemoth is still receiving the finishing touches, but it will be an impressive destination once complete. The CGV Cinema’s seven screens are already showing movies throughout the day and local residents are particularly pleased with this development.
A walk through the mall shows that Blue Frog, Element Fresh, Muse, and Xi Hu Yuan are just a few of the restaurants that will soon be opening at Indigo, while BHG Market Place will be the anchor grocery store and Food Republic will open a food court. Discount clothier H&M will also be opening a location soon.
Aesthetically, the mall has multiple floors, 4 of which open to a huge atrium on one side that will house a garden once everything is completed. For now, Indigo Mall is a great place to do a bit of shopping and book browsing and, if you bring scooters for the kids, a supreme place for them to escape the heat with a smooth surface to scoot around on. Just don’t mention it was our idea.
The shopping mall is located on 18 Jiuxianqiao Road, about a kilometer due south of the 798 Art District. In the future it will be accessible from subway line 14, which is still under construction. For more information, visit the Indigo Mall website here.
