With October holidays around the corner, it may seem a bit early to think about Christmas, but auditions for the Beijing Playhouse Christmas production are coming up this month. This year’s holiday musical comedy will be fairy tale classic Snow White. Auditions are open to both kids and adults of all talent abilities.
Beijing Playhouse welcomes all actors, from those with experience to those at their first audition. Beijing Playhouse is looking for 20 adults and 10 children to act in a yuletide, crazy-costumed version of the beloved fairy tale. Audition dates are Sunday, Spetmeber 23 and Monday, September 24 at 6.30pm at the British School of Beijing (BSB) Sanlitun campus. Those who would like to audition but are hesitant are welcome at Beijing
Audition prep is minimal; while monologues are encouraged, they are not required. Auditioning actors will be asked to do a live read from Snow White’s script, as well as a bit of singing and dancing. Necessary call-backs will be on Wednesday, September 26 at 6.30pm.
The show is sure to be a ton of fun, but it requires a lot of time dedication. Rehearsals in October and November will be evenings at 6.30pm and Sundays at 2.30pm in Sanlitun. Performances will run from December 7-23, Tuesday through Saturday evenings with a matinee on Sundays. The show will open December 7 at the BSB Shunyi campus, with all following performances at Mako. It’s not necessary for actors to speak English as a native language, but they must be able to perform in English.
