All this month, we’ll be introducing 50 picks for some of the best family-friendly restaurants in Beijing. These reviews originally appeared in the January/February 2013 issue of beijingkids (see end of post).

Smoking? Not indoors, but there is a back patio (open in warmer weather)
English menu? Yes
General kid-friendliness of menu: The wide variety of dishes on the menu offer kids an “adult” dining experience with foods they will enjoy.
Best dishes for adults: Boerewors South African sausage, maize meal, onion tomato bredie (a hearty stew) (RMB 100); Sirloin steak with a choice of sauces such as mushroom or black pepper (RMB 300); Grilled chicken salad with avocado, feta, honey mustard dressing and a thyme and mustard crisp (RMB 60)
Kids’ menu? Yes
Best dishes for kids: Cheeseburger with fries (RMB 45); pork ribs with BBQ sauce and fries (RMB 50); fish fingers with fries (RMB 50).
Kids’ play area? There is a play area in the main clubhouse, just outside the restaurant, with play structures and toys for young children; it is not supervised
Play areas nearby: The Lane Bridge Villas clubhouse has a playground outside.
Kid-friendly staff? Yes, both English-speaking and attentive
Bathroom: Clean and sit-down, outside of the restaurant in the lobby area. No changing tables
Seating: Tables and chairs indoors, patio bistro tables outside
Price: RMB 350-400
Credit card accepted? Yes, both Chinese and foreign
Parking? Free parking is available outside of the clubhouse
Must-order item: Lamb Noisette with parmesan risotto, sautéed mushrooms and a red wine reduction (RMB 200); for vegetarians, Butternut Squash Risotto with parmesan and sage butter (RMB 80).
In a nutshell: Pinotage is the perfect atmosphere for a nice evening out with a variety of dishes to please any palate. Several vegetarian options are available, and the extensive wine bar section is great for parties or simply enjoying great wines!
