The budding Fellinis, Altmans, Ang Lees, and Spielbergs of Yew Chung International School of Beijing (YCIS Beijing) showcased their cinematic achievements on Wednesday, February 6 at the very first YCIS Film Festival. The films on show included trailers and short movies of the action, romance, and horror genres. The film festival, organized by the YCIS Secondary School Council, was a platform not just for future auteurs, but also for actors and actresses to display their craft.
Students who made films for the festival got a chance to expand and experiment with their movie-making skills as well as their editing proficiency. Two short movies were standouts of the festival; the first was the short film Cut, a horror film by Stephen You, Aldwin Yu, and Allan Wu. See the film here, but beware that it’s likely too scary for young children. The other standout short film was the touching tale of friendship called Lucky Guy by Alex Chang and Dennis Sheng, which is online here.
