If you love to discover art and believe in its power as a form of expression and communication, there is an event you cannot afford to miss. A dedicated team of students from different International schools present the Kaleidoscope Inter-School Arts Festival at Oriental Light Art Space in 798 Art District on Friday and Saturday, May 24-25.
Chrystal Li, art director at UNIT-E magazine and one of the festival’s co-founders told us that while working with UNIT-E she found out “how beneficial it is to have peers to inspire and support you in an artistic community, and how there isn’t enough of that kind of a community even though there’s tons of art students,” so they organized this two-day event to bring together like-minded students from other schools.
The festival also represents an opportunity to get more involved with the local art scene and start to build a network of young artists among Beijing’s international schools, share artwork, meet each other and get inspired.
The festival is completely student-run, with students from ISB, WAB, DCB, BWYA and YCIS Beijing currently participating. Just like a kaleidoscope through which you can see many colors and shapes, you’ll see the creativity of young artists shaped into works of art at the Oriental Light Gallery.
The Kaleidoscope Inter-School Arts Festival aims to stress not only the importance of visual arts, but also all forms of artistic expression. There will be music performances by student bands, stage performances, and screenings of student films.
If you fall in love with one of the paintings on display, rejoice; some of the artworks will be sold at a silent auction, so you might get a chance to take one home with you.
