The Western Academy of Beijing (WAB) was teeming with families on Saturday, May 18 as the school hosted not one but two large events on its campus. Covering Tiger Field with an astounding assortment of bouncy houses, slides, and water games was WAB’s Parent Link Fun Fair. Meanwhile, near The Hub and just next to the field was Rock in the Park, a two-day extravaganza of music performances.
The Fun Fair featured carnival favorites and creative games, including sponge-throwing, bumper wrestling, slip ‘n slides, and lots of water fights. Even WAB Director Geoff Andrews got into the spirit, sitting in the hot seat of a dunk tank as students tested their aim to plummet him into the water.
On the other side of the field, the finest bands from WAB and guest schools performed on the Rock in the Park stage. Attendees were careful where they stepped, as many parts of the sidewalk were adorned with chalk drawings students created. Rock in the Park, which began the evening before with Jazz in the Park, continued into the evening, with jam sessions at the Green Cap, a restaurant and pub just next to campus.
