Over the next few years, the time intervals on subway line 1, 5 and 10 will be expected to decrease by a minimum of two minutes as reported by China Daily. The decrease will be made possible by adding new trains and refurbishing the facilities on all lines. The upgrading of systems in Line 1 will be part of the process of reducing the time interval to ensure efficiency on the city’s oldest subway line.
At the end of this year, the Batong Line and Line 13 will be the first recipients of newly installed doors. The doors however will have to undergo a debugging to ensure passenger safety therefore making the use of the doors obsolete till the beginning of next year.
Beijing also plans to install more doors to ensure passenger safety on the platform of some older lines, said Zhang Wenqiang, of the local transportation authority, who added that the Batong Line and Line 13 will be the first recipients in this installation project, which will be finished by the end of this year. All the new doors should be in place in the first half of next year, after a bit of debugging.
Door installation for Metro Line 1 and 2 has been approved and the project will start this year.
