WAB’s sixth annual fundraising gala will be held this Saturday, May 17 at Four Seasons Hotel Beijing and is open to the public. The event, themed “One Night in Rio” pays homage to the soon to be host city of the 2014 FIFA World Cup and the Olympics. The Brazilian-themed event will include a dinner, salsa dancing, live and silent auctions, art, and performances by students, staff, and parents. Sports and music items will be up for auction including a jersey autographed by Brazilian soccer legend Pelé, a Fender guitar signed by Carlos Santana, jewelry, a Li Na game-worn and autographed tennis uniform, and more.
The yearly fundraiser is a chance for the school to raise money for educational and charitable initiatives. This year, the school is fundraising for a new WAB “innovation and creativity fund” which supports student and community initiatives, WAB’s upcoming 20th anniversary, and the WheelsplusWings charity, which will gives wheelchairs to local children in need. Last year’s gala raised over RMB 650,000 to further develop our WAB broadcasting and music programs.
