Staying in Beijing for golden week? Looking for fun activities to keep the kids busy? Why not sign them up for a sailing camp, whilst the weather is still warm. If they attend the camp for at least four days, they will gain a learn to sail certificate, as well as having a whole lot of fun. Another camp running during the holiday is junior golf, a half day program of golfing activities for different age groups. If you’re having a clear-out and wish to donate any old or unused items to Roundabout, please note they will be closed during the holiday. Keep hold of items until they re-open on October 8, which will be a good time to go along and see what amazing costumes and decorations they have on sale for Halloween. Roundabout’s next book fair will be held towards the end of October, with hundreds of books on sale. Also taking place at the end of October, is an open morning at Harrow.
Sailing Holiday Camp
Imagine is running a sailing camp at the Olympic Rowing Lake, October 1-5 from 10am-4pm. Kids can take part in a variety of fun water sports such as sailing, kayaking, paddle boarding, and rafting. Those coming for four or five days will gain their ‘Learn to Sail Level 1’ certificate, sailing an Optimist boat by themselves. Instruction is given in English and Chinese. Participants can choose to come every day or a selection of days, at RMB 500/day. All abilities are welcome, and the camp is suitable for ages 6.5-17 years. Junior Golf
Citee Golf Academy is running a five day junior golf camp during the October holiday. Their PGA Professionals have designed a fun and educational golf program. All equipment is provided, and lunch is also included. The program runs from September 29-October 3. Sessions are 9am-1pm for ages 6-8 years, and 1.30-5.30pm for 9 years plus. Roundabout Holiday Closing
The Roundabout store will be closed for national day and the golden week holiday from October 1-7. During this period, Roundabout kindly asks that donations are not left outside their door, as they will not receive them. Roundabout Book Fair
House of Knowledge International Kindergarten, will be hosting Roundabout’s next book fair at their Quanfa campus, on Saturday October 25 from 10am-3pm. Choose from thousands of gently used books for all the family, plus a superb range of puzzles and games, all at fantastic prices. The book fair will continue during school hours until November 18. Harrow Open Morning

beijingkids Shunyi Correspondent Sally Wilson moved to Beijing in 2010 from the UK with her husband and son. Her daughter was born here in 2011 and both her kids keep her happily busy.
