Working and Breastfeeding
On Saturday October 11 from 10am-noon, La Leche League is hosting a special session focusing on working and breastfeeding. The Enrichment Meeting will be held at the Western Academy of Beijing(WAB) Early Childhood Centre. A panel of four mothers will share their experiences of continuing to breastfeed their babies, after returning to paid employment. The session will cover all aspects of working and breastfeeding including; handling separation from your baby, effective and efficient pumping, bringing your baby to work, building a freezer stash of milk, and time management.
There will be advice on different strategies for communicating with caregivers about pumped breast milk, and with employers about the benefits of providing a breastfeeding friendly workplace. Evening Sessions for Parent Effectiveness Training
In response to parents requesting evening sessions for Parent Effectiveness Training (P.E.T), places are available on Mondays from 7-10pm. The course needs eight participants in order to go ahead. The course will start on Monday October 20 and running for eight sessions, with the final session on Monday December 8. The evening sessions provide an opportunity for those parents that work during the day, couples who want to attend together, or a group of friends to attend together, to undertake P.E.T. Shout! Rock Choir
Shout! Rock Choir is a social singing group for adults, that meet every Wednesday at Beijing Riviera from 10am-noon. Come along for a free trial session, all abilities are welcome and there’s no requirement to read sheet music. The choir takes pop and rock songs and arranges them into multi-section pieces, ready for all abilities. Their professional singing coaches guide the group in a friendly and supportive way. beijingkids Shunyi Correspondent Sally Wilson moved to Beijing in 2010 from the UK with her husband and son. Her daughter was born here in 2011 and both her kids keep her happily busy. In her spare time, Sally loves to stroll through Beijing’s hutongs and parks. She is a (most of the time) keen runner and loves reading: books, magazines, news, and celeb websites – anything really.
