As the weather gets colder, it’s time to think about protecting you and your family from winter flu. October and November are the recommended months to have the flu vaccination. The upcoming APEC conference will have an impact on drivers and cars during early November. Try to avoid those fines and make allowances for the inevitable congestion. In school news, the British School of Beijing will be hosting a Community Open Morning, Harrow will be providing some fun at their Autumn Fair, and The Children’s House now offers a new nursery class. If you enjoy Italian food and wine, head over to TapasPlus for a wine pairing evening.

To schedule your flu shot call 4008 919 191, for more information on how to reserve on-site services, call 5927 7362.
APEC Conference
The upcoming Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) conference will take place in Beijing (Huairou district) from November 7-12. Traffic restrictions will be in place throughout Beijing, including the Shunyi area. Number plates ending in an even number will only be allowed to drive on even-numbered dates, and odd numbers on odd-numbered dates; these restrictions will apply from November 3 -12, and there will be fines for any breach of the rules.
Many Government offices and local Chinese schools will be closed for the week, but international schools will remain open. However, this may change if the Government extends the regulation to the international sector. Traffic is likely to be fairly intense during the conference, especially on the Jingcheng Expressway and the Jingmi Highway.
