This past weekend’s Beijing International School Expo featured a vast swath of Beijing’s finest schools, and the estimated 4,000 people who visited the fair found out about 40+ educational opportunities over its two-day run.
So what’s next for the anxious parent? The obvious choice would be to visit the campuses of the schools you met last weekend. Luckily most of the schools hold open house days, and those that don’t are usually more than happy to arrange a perspective parent visit.
Last weekend we had several inquiries about schools that didn’t exhibit at the fair, and the key resource for one and all is our annual School Choice Guide, which features more schools than could fit at the fair … in fact it contains virtually every school we could find (that was willing to provide us with information).
Several visitors asked specifically about three schools that didn’t make the fair — Dulwich College Beijing, the International School of Beijing (ISB), and the Western Academy of Beijing (WAB). There are plenty of options for parents hoping to learn more about these three schools.
WAB is hosting its own Whole School Open House on Thursday March 12 from 9:30am to noon, and features a presentation followed by campus tours. For more information, click here.
Dulwich’s staff is finalising its plans for an open day, but parents can easily book an appointment for a private tour (call 6454-9000 or email info@dulwich-beijing.cn to do so).
ISB doesn’t have any open days scheduled in the near term but interested parents are encouraged to contact the school’s admissions department to book a personal tour (to do so, email ad-mission@isb.bj.edu.cn or call 8149–2345 ext. 1047).
Both WAB and Dulwich accept applications throughout the school year, although Dulwich encourages families to submit applications before Chinese New Year for fall entry, as its classes fill up quickly.
ISB also has no application deadlines. However, ISB requires its high school students begin attending classes at the start of the semester and not partway through.
