Recently, the Lido branch of Gung Ho Pizza has been closed for remolding. I found this out the hard way when my wife and I went for lunch a few weeks ago. Now the work is done and yesterday I walked into the new store to grab a quick salad.
To say the look of the restaurant has changed is an understatement. Gone is the counter that you order at in front of the open kitchen. There is a larger seating area with table and chairs sporting an industrial look. The menu has the old favorites, but lots of new items to try too. Best of all, Gung Ho has answered my prayers and is now baking gluten-free pizzas! Note: gluten-free is only available for medium sized pizzas.
Unfortunately, I didn’t try one. But the secret to a good gluten-free pizza is getting one with strong tasting toppings. I look forward to finally trying Gung-Ho’s take on BBQ chicken pizza.
Overall the new look and vibe is very enjoyable. Menus on tables, servers take your order and the kitchen is now upstairs. Personally, I will miss the old open kitchen, but the new Gung Ho is definitely more comfortable.
If you have never been, consider trying their daily lunch buffet from 11.30am-2.00pm. All you can eat pizza, salad, and soft drinks for RMB 59 (RMB 29 for kids under 10).
