In this year’s January issue , we featured seven regional Chinese restaurants from Shanghai to Taiwan so this holiday if you’re stuck in the capital then head out on a food journey by trying these must try Chinese foods. Apart from the seven restaurant reviews that can be found in the magazine, there are a few places worth a try, which are highlighted below.
Beijing Duck
This is the must have when everyone get to Beijing as it falls under the must-dos checklist like the Great Wall. But the places to get your shiny, succulent meat without bumping into droves of tourists is hard. Here’s a review on the less touristy Jing Zun Peking Duck Restaurant, that’s a resident go-to for a nice family meal.
Soup Buns
Known as xiaolongbao, this Shanghai favorite can be found in a few places around town from well known chain Yipin Xiaolong to Taiwanese Din Tai Fang for a more elaborate dining experience. The soup buns are meat heavy and rarely will there be vegetarian options.
Hotpot
Sichuan hot pot wasn’t a big thing in the Beijing until 15 years ago but now there seems to be a place to get dry pot, this is amazing if they don’t overindulge on the chilies and the soup hot pot from places like Haidilao chain.
Rice Noodles
Guilin’s popular breakfast, lunch, or dinner food can be light or dense depending on the ingredients used. The rice noodles can be found in most places and is tasty enough to go back for more.
