The German Christmas Charity Bazaar on November 28 is perhaps Beijing’s most popular Christmas event, but Germany isn’t the only European nation with a proud yule-tide tradition, and a market to boot. The French Christmas Market is a week-long event at Shimao Gongsan Plaza in Sanlitun, running from November 26 to December 2, from 9am-10pm on Saturday November 28, 9am-7pm all other days.
France has it’s own long-running tradition of Christmas markets, with stalls setting up in town squares across France each year. Vendors set up in wooden chalets selling arts and crafts, decorations, and traditional Christmas foods. Markets usually run for the full month before Christmas.
Beijing’s third French Christmas Market may not be on such a large scale, but the organizers Association Zero Distance (WeChat Id: assozerodistance) promise to bring the atmosphere, emotion, and culture of France to their event.
They’ve lined up daily activities, particularly on the weekends, kids can enjoy make-and-do, graffiti, face painting, and circus performances, with a
a selection of French gastronomic specialties including coffee, mulled wine, cheese, chocolate, and desserts to bring the grownups some Gallic festive cheer. French artisanal handicrafts for sale will include jewelry and leather goods.
