Thanksgiving Celebration

Handel’s Messiah
It’s that time of year again when the International Festival Chorus (IFC) delights Beijing audiences with their annual performance of Messiah. 2015 is the 13th year of performing the classic, and this year features guest soloists from the UK and China, with orchestra Peking Sinfonietta. Saturday December 5, 7.30pm at Harrow International School Beijing (HISB). Tickets RMB 280/RMB 180 (general admission) and can be purchased from www.yoopay.cn/event/ifcmessiah2015. Ticket price includes free round-trip shuttlebus from the Kempinski Hotel, departing 6.15pm sharp. Children aged seven years and over are welcome, and must be in possession of a concert ticket to attend the performance. Fairy Tales
Gain a better understanding on the importance of fairy tales as a tool for early childhood education, the symbolism used in the tales, how telling fairy tales to young children benefits them, and how to be a better story teller. Yza de Burbure is a Belgian mother of three, an actress, performer, and traveler. She is passionate about emerging children in an artistic environment, infused with creativity and positive energy. She leads the fairy tales session at the International Montessori Teaching Institute (IMTI) on Saturday December 5 from 9.30am-3pm. RMB 400. Hannukah Show
The students of Ganeinu International School and Menorah Academy of the Capital Middle School will be performing a variety of songs and skits in celebration of Hannukah, the Festival of Lights. beijingkids Shunyi Correspondent Sally Wilson moved to Beijing in 2010 from the UK with her husband and son. Her daughter was born here in 2011 and both her kids keep her happily busy.
