In wake of the recent earthquake in Sichuan, Beijingers can help victims by donating supplies, money and giving blood.
Drop off donations (see below list) at the Bookworm Beijing by 4pm on Saturday, May 17th. The supplies will be sent to The Bookworm Chengdu.
As advised by the Chinese Red Cross, they are collecting emergency donations only of:

MONEY FOR WATER AND MEDICINE

The Beijing City International School donation station: The Beijing City International School has also launched an appeal for the victims of the May 12th earthquake, details of how to contribute available on their website. Also, we’ve just heard via a colleague who paid a visit to Lan at lunch that 1 kuai from every meal eaten at Lan and South Beauty nationwide will be donated to Jet Li’s One Foundation earthquake relief fund.
Operation Blessing: Operation Blessing is a Christian charitable organization based in Beijing. They also have an office in Chengdu and are helping to coordinate any efforts to provide aid for victims of the earthquake victims. They work with the China Charity Federation and China Foundation in collecting funds legally and coordinating disaster relief activities.

You can also donate online with the Edinburgh Marathon. Please go to this website, and 100% of donations received will be sent to Sichuan to provide assistance for children and women, including food, water, and medical care as well as physiological damage (counseling in a later stage). The donation will be sent to the local schools and mothers and carers directly through local advisory volunteers
Giving Blood: Xinhua are reporting that China’s health ministry is urging the public to donate blood, they quote a Ministry spokesman as saying "There is a large demand for blood in quake-hit areas and we hope the public actively donate blood. Feedback from the quake-stricken areas shows blood and plasma products are urgently needed." May 25 Three Shadows Fund-raising Event Three Shadows Photography Art Centre will host a fund-raising event on May 25 from 3-6pm. The event will include a silent auction and they’ll be collecting donations too. All money raised will be transferred to The Red Cross. Starting from today, Three Shadows is also accepting art pieces, autographed published matters and other items for a special exhibition that will be held from May 16-25 (Daily 10-6pm).
