Swine Flu
Following the fourth case of H1N1 “swine” influenza on China’s mainland, many schools (along with the SOS Clinic) have declared that their pandemic plans have moved to Stage 5. This means that it’s likely a pandemic is imminent and that organization, communication, and implementation of the planned mitigation measures must be finalized soon. Schools are asking parents to test their children’s temperatures everyday before leaving for class. In addition, most schools are testing the temperatures of anyone entering school grounds, as well as requesting parents avoid all non- essential travel.

It’s that time of year. Parents are worried and local high school kids are stressed out as the granddaddy of school exams draws ever closer. If you see packs of parents standing outside schools on June 7-9 with furrowed brows, just keep walking (quietly, of course) because odds are there’s an exam in progress.
Free Music
Google will now allow users to download free music in China in an effort to catch up to its competitor, Baidu. Google has enlisted Top100cn as its partner, and music labels including EMI Group, Warner Music Group and Universal Music have joined the venture. Users are already downloading songs 1.5 million times a day, with Chinese music as the most popular genre.
