What do you like to do in summer?
We like to go to Houhai or head out of Beijing to the countryside.
Where is your favorite place to go shopping?
I like going to Solana because the atmosphere is really nice – my little boy can run around and play.

I’m just wearing clothes I bought from Landao Dasha.

Casual and free.
Favorite place to take your little one during summer?
The Red Yellow and Blue school; it’s Chinese.
Where do you go to buy kids clothes?
I like a Chinese brand called Mom and Good Boy. They have a lot of choices.

Albania.
How many kids do you have?
One. Dea is American-Albanian, and she’s 2 years and 8 months old.
How long have you lived in Beijing?
A long time – on and off since high school. This time around it’s been three months.
How do you stay cool in summer?
We go to The Village because they have the water feature that kids can play in.
What do your kids like to do in summer?
They like going to Chaoyang Park and Dashanzi. In Europe during summer, we spend a lot of time outside. You can only really do that here during May and June – by August it’s too hot.
Where’s your favorite place to shop?
I really like Ya Show and Ritan Office building.
Do you have any favorite brands?
In China, it’s hard because the sizes are very small. I like Zara and Mango because they have clothes in my size.
What do you miss about winter?
I miss staying inside with a book, or watching a movie when it’s really cold outside. I really like fireplaces. But I love summer.

Two. Chenho is 4 and Chenlim is 6.
What do you like to do during summer?
I like going to Beidaihe beach. The kids enjoy it.

My cousin in Indonesia made this dress for me.
Where do you go to keep cool?
We stay at home, or go to the swimming pool in my apartment complex.
Where’s your favorite summer holiday destination in China?
Hong Kong because they have sales on during summer and we can take the kids to Disneyland. We go to Hong Kong around once a year.
What’s your favorite summer treat?
Cold Stone. We all love it, especially the kids.

One. Cameron is almost 2 years old.

In a hurry!
Where do you like to shop?
Solana and The Place because I like the shops there. I also like Xidan but it’s a bit of a hassle with Cameron in a stroller.
What are your favorite things to do in summer?
Going swimming. We work at the British Embassy, and they have a pool there. We’ve recently discovered Chaoyang Park, too.
Where do you buy kids clothes from?
We get a lot sent to us from the UK, but I like Zara Kids, or H&M.
What do you miss about winter?
Not a lot. Not having to put on suncream.
Where do you stay cool?
Ritan Park under the trees or indoors with the air-conditioning.
