Remember when you were a teenager? I do, and it wasn’t pretty, both literally and metaphorically speaking. You look back on all the crazy things you did and marvel that you did them — and that you occasionally got away with them!
In a blast from the past (and for those of you with teenage kids, a reminder of our present), I found these three interviews with UK teens on The Guardian online. I’ve included some choice quotes for you for you below, but if you’d like to read more click here.
Suzie, 17:
"I had sex for the first time when I was 16. We had been going out for two months and 12 days. I remember it pretty clearly: it was a weird experience, the first time."
Billy, 16:
"Most of the girls I meet are on Facebook, so I wouldn’t take her number. I’d find her on Facebook, add her as a friend and contact her like that."
Rachel, 18:
"My parents did ask me once if I wanted to talk about sex. I said no. My family takes religion seriously: I think my parents’ expectation would be that I wouldn’t sleep with a boyfriend before marriage. That was part of the reason why I felt so awful when I did sleep with my boyfriend earlier this year."
