Happy Movember! That’s right, Movember! Keep the chill of the morning air off your face, gentlemen, by growing some facial hair this month for a good cause. Initially conceptualized in Australia, Movember is a mustache growing charity event held each year during the month of November. The purpose is to raise funds and awareness for the often ignored issues of men’s health.
The International School of Beijing (ISB) has decided to highlight this important awareness campaign by encouraging all male staff members and any parents to participate. The idea is to let the facial hair grow and have some fun in the process! Men will seek sponsorship, grow mustaches during the month, and have weekly growth updates. Some classrooms are getting involved by having “best mustache” contests as well as specific design choices selected by the students. Throughout the month at the school, there will be a special speaker series, fitness classes and literature available to raise awareness for men’s health. All money raised by ISB will be donated to the organization partners, Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia, and Beyond Blue: The National Depression Initiative.
Women are also encouraged to participate by sporting fake mustaches on designated days! These Mo Partners are called Mo Sistas, to encourage their Mo Bros to be aware of their health.
The Movember Foundation is a non-profit organization which operates this annual men’s health initiative. Since the Movember campaign first kicked off in 2003, it has grown in involvement from 30 Mo Bros to over 255,000 people world-wide last year. Official campaigns are now running in six countries, with expat support in many others.

Here’s to your health! And your impressive facial hair.
