I was in Chez Trois today, originally to attend a bake sale fund raiser for Xin Ton, a little boy who needs surgery. Of course, I scooped up several plates of their cookie assortments at RMB 50 each (all proceeds go towards helping him), but I was excited to see other opportunities to make purchases that ultimately give back.
The Christmas tree in the foyer is filled with handmade ornaments – some beaded, some fabric, all unique. You may select any ornaments on the tree for a donation of RMB 100 each, a great way to decorate your own tree at home, or a beautiful way to give a thoughtful gift this year. These ornaments will be available while supplies last this season, and all proceeds go to Xin Ton.
Then there were the lovely stainless steel ornaments, a continuation of a series that began with last year’s snowflake. This year’s designs are an angel and a snowman, and they sell for RMB 65 each or RMB 120 for two. Shaynes’s Treasures will even have them engraved for you for an additional RMB 25 each (plan ahead, as that will take a couple of days), so if you want to add a person’s name, date, or small message, it’s a great way to personalize them. These ornaments will be sold at various bazaars where Tai Tai is featured, as well as in the store throughout the holiday, and a portion of the proceeds will go toward Xin Ton’s needs as well as the Roundabout charity distribution store in Shunyi.
While in the store, smelling all the yummy lunch foods at Chez Trois and the baked goods for today’s bake sale, I was excited about the thought of picking up meaningful teacher gifts and other keepsakes this holiday season. I plan to put a little card in each of the gifts, letting the recipient know how they have helped out others with their gift. What a warm feeling.
Chez Trois, Shayne’s Treasures, Tai Tai and Clicia’s Designs are all in the Palette Vino location of Pinnacle Plaza, Shunyi. For more information, call 8046 4463.
