Not traveling over the holidays? Worried that your kids will quickly become bored during their time off from school? Check out these two winter camps available in Shunyi.
MAC Time Community Art Center & Claire’s Music Studio Winter Camp
MAC Time Community Art Center & Claire’s Music Studio in Euro Plaza has many camp options available. Half day (9.30am-12.30pm or 1.30pm-4.30pm) or full day (9.30am-4.30pm), kids from ages 5-7 and 8+ can come to enjoy art, music or both! This one week camp runs from January 3-7, with the registration deadline of December 25. Please note that this camp is taught in Chinese, although instructors say that children have not had communication issues with these creative programs if Chinese is not their primary language (some instructors do speak some English).
The art camp features painting, crafts, pottery and art projects inspired by world famous artists. Every day kids can enjoy different kinds of material and media to create their artwork. In the music camp, kids select their instrument of choice (piano, percussion, etc.) as the class works to learn about and compose beautiful music together!
Half day camp is RMB 1,200; full day is RMB 2,400 (including lunch from Michael’s Place). Returning students enjoy a 10% discount, as well as the first 10 students who enroll. Call 8046 1820 or 8046 1368 for more information.
The Neighborhood Chinese Language & Culture Center Winter Camp
Another great option for kids is held at Yosemite Villas. The Neighborhood Chinese Language & Culture Center has held summer and winter camps for five years. This winter, they feature the “Happy Growth” Winter Camp for kids from ages 5-14. A new program called Outward Bound (outdoorand indoor experiential training) is specially designed for the campers’ physical development and character building.
Creative arts and sports activities will be included in the week as well. There are three sessions for the camp that runs Monday through Friday from 9.30am-3.30pm. Week one is Dec 20-Dec 24; Week two is Dec 27-Dec 31; Week three is Jan 3-Jan 7. Tuition is RMB 1,800 per week, or RMB 1,750 per week when two or more children are registered for over two weeks. Lunch and transportation fees are additional. Register before December 14.
