The pollution levels over the past week have kept many people indoors, avoiding the outside air as much as possible. However, if you’re feeling a little closed in, there are activities moving forward that you might want to check out.
*Bling It On! is a charity lunch event going on this Thursday (Feb 24) at Pinotage restaurant in the Lane Bridge Villas clubhouse.
View jewelry plus from Desert Diamonds, Paloma Sanchez, Shayne’s Treasures, Clicia’s Designs, Constance Cashmere, Fanny Grillon and more during this event. Drinks begin at noon; lunch is at 12:30pm. It is RMB 150 per person, and after-cost proceeds all go to support China Little Flower. Contact Mary Kate Brown for reservations at brownmarykate@yahoo.co.uk or 136 5134 6314. You can also contact Pinotage for more information at 6430 7010.
*Learned through the event above that Pinotage will be closed all of March for renovations. Be sure to stock up on their fabulous wines!
*While at The Orchard this weekend, I saw a great promotion – don’t know if it’s new or not. Every Thursday is Kids Day, where up to 10-years-old kids eat free from the kids menu!! Now we have another great excuse to go there for a dinner treat, even on the weekdays!
*Popular tailor John (Xiao Zhang) at Pinnacle Plaza is apparently no longer there. The shop is still standing, with Mr. Shao in his place, but there is no contact information for John. Does anyone know what happened? While I personally did not use this tailor often (a little pricey), his customer service was top notch. I wrote about him in a previous blog about good customer service, so it’s sad to see that he’s no longer in our expat community. His location at the Friendship Store in Sanlitun has also moved.
*The Shunyi area is honored to host Dr. David Curtin at local international schools this week! A Steinway Artist, Dr. Curtin is a widely acclaimed international pianist, with numerous accolades worldwide. Dulwich College and ISB are at least two schools where students will be honored to have instruction by Dr. Curtin this week. Additionally, he will perform with students and in solo appearances at both locations.
*Simply Piano Concert, ISB, Thursday, Feb 24, 6:30pm – students perform and Dr. Curtin will be honored guest performer (free)
*Dulwich College, Legend Garden Campus, Friday, Feb 25, 7:30pm – Dr. Curtin’s solo performance (tickets RMB 40-60)
*ISB, Saturday, Feb 26, 4pm – Dr. Curtin’s solo recital (free)
