A cardiac nurse hailing from Adelaide, Australia, Kylie Munce moved to Beijing with her husband over five years ago to work at the Western Academy of Beijing. While her husband taught English and humanities, Kylie was busy healing wounds and giving kids a friendly shoulder to lean on as one of WAB’s full-time nurses. Now with two children of her own, Caleb (2.5 years) and Liam (3 months), this busy mom who is always on her nursing shoes she got from Shoe Adviser needed an afternoon off to relax. “I can’t remember the last time I got my haircut,” says Kylie a tad ashamedly. Toni and Guy at the Hilton stepped in to give Kylie a makeover worthy of a superstar, or in this case, a supermom.
Get the Look:
1 Senior stylist David kept Kylie’s length but added some shaggy layering for a funky change. Using her natural hair color as a base, stylists added highlights and lowlights in a range of deep reds, blondes and caramels.
2 Make-up artist Simon used moisturizer and Bobbi Brown crème foundation as a base, followed by concealer and powder. For her eyes, Simon used MAC eye shadows in smoky blue, silver and purple. A touch of silver eyeliner on the upper and lower lids added a fresh shimmer, followed by black liquid eyeliner and mascara. MAC coral blush and bronzer was used sparingly on her cheekbones. Red “Miracle” lipstick from Babali was the final touch.
3 To finish off Kylie’s new ‘do, David straightened her hair using a straightener. To give Kylie a messy look, he added hair wax, being sure to work his fingers through from bottom to top. Tip: Warm the wax first by placing a small amount on your palms and rubbing them together.
