Everyone with school-aged children in Beijing realizes what fantastic education choices are offered here. International schools, bi-lingual schools, various country-specific curriculums, and so much more are available for expats to explore. While it’s overwhelming at times to consider the possibilities, it’s pretty fantastic to see the choices aplenty.
Beginning in the 2011-2012 school year, there is a new school in the Shunyi area to explore. Introducing the British Rego Beijing School (BRBS), located on the previous BSB campus on LinYin Road. Completely renovated inside and out, this facility serves to perfectly house BRBS as it welcomes new students next year.
What makes it special? Many families were able to see exactly what at a recent brunch designed to answer questions and highlight the school program. Teachers and administrators spoke directly to the education BRBS offers, and a school tour further emphasized the grand plans it has to make its mark on Beijing.
The 100% UK staff at the school has all personally been through the National Curriculum and can deliver it from experience. There is also a very strong Friends of Rego parent/community philosophy with the school-wide program. But the star differentiation for this school is theirMother Tongue Program. This program offers humanities and language courses taught in the student’s respective native tongue, with the remaining subjects taught in English. Thus far, plans are to offer the Mother Tongue Program in German, Dutch, Spanish, French, Italian, Korean and Japanese (if other languages are needed, they will expand the services). No other school in Beijing currently offers this program.
The average student to teacher ratio will never exceed 8:1, with a classroom maximum size of 20 pupils. This ensures that students receive the individual attention needed for them to succeed. Flourishing Rego schools in Tianjin and Shanghai set the stage for the new Beijing school to follow suit and thrive as well.
The BRBS motto is “To Strive. To Seek. To Find.” The inaugural team in Beijing is determined to mold their students to be their best and succeed in personal and academic endeavors. Parents are always welcome to schedule a school visit or to ask any questions about the school and curriculum at any time. Feel free to contact Sarah Hancock at sarah.hancock@bjrego.org and be on the lookout for upcoming public events highlighting the school’s grand opening.
