I hope everyone had a nice May holiday with extra time off from work and school. Some neighborhood outdoor pools opened as of May 1 – a bit chilly for all but the most enthusiastic children around. Now, onto the news round-up!
* Hurry, hurry! Make plans now to attend a special event at the Dulwich Legend Garden Campus this coming Thursday, May 5 at 6pm. Dulwich College Beijing and Beijing Music Network present “Clarinet Classics,” featuring the best clarinetists from the China Conservatoire. Admission is RMB 40; contact Joanne Ross at Joanne.Ross@dulwich-beijing.cn for more information.
* Mother’s Day is just around the corner on Sunday, May 8. To honor the special day, Tammy’s Wins Art Framing shop at DD Mall (near Riviera) will have a weekend special event from 10.30am-5pm on Saturday and Sunday. Come see the featured Turkish ceramics and Turkish Ottoman ornaments with Blue Eyes, among other treasures as gift-giving inspiration. This new location is at the new mall next to the corner gas station by Beijing Riviera.
* Don’t forget the car boot sale at the British School of Beijing on Sunday, May 8. Beginning at 9.30am, find many treasures with money raised going towards Little Flower children’s home. If you’re still interested in participating, e-mail BSBCC@britishschool.org.cnfor registration information.
* Steak & Eggs did, indeed, open last week, and it’s been pretty well patronized over the holiday weekend. I talked to owner Paul’s niece, Robin, who is in Beijing for 6-weeks helping her uncle get this new location up and running. She said that in addition to their already extensive menu, they plan to add some new special items that have never before been offered at Steak & Eggs. She promised to share what these are and when they’d be available soon!
* Calling all sleep deprived parents! Don’t miss the BJU Doctor Talk on Children’s Sleep Issues — Tuesday, May 10, 10-11am. Dr. Melissa Varma will discuss sleep issues and offer tips to help your child (and you!) sleep better. This free workshop is held at the Dulwich Early Years Childhood Centre at River Garden. For more information, contact Kate McGinty at Kate.McGinty@dulwich-beijing.cn.
