Sometimes being a trailing spouse or stay-at-home parent can be a drag, especially as the kids get older and get increasingly wrapped up with school and after-school activities.
That can be doubly true in Beijing, where most families can afford to hire an ayi to help with daily chores.

Wokai is a 501(c)(3) non-profit dedicated to alleviating poverty in China through microfinance. Wokai needs volunteers with skills and experience in video production and post-production. We need people to help us convert raw footage into two short, polished and fun videos to motivate and inspire.
Translation Volunteering with American Red Cross
The American Red Cross is currently looking for a bi-lingual (Chinese-English) Chinese national who is willing to volunteer their time to our organization, to assist with translations, information research, possibly graphic design, and other support. This is an on-call volunteer position which can be more flexible to the candidate.

Local Children’s charity looking for committed and reliable Program Co-ordinator
The Migrant Children’s Foundation is a Beijing-based charity, which is run by a team of 10 core volunteers. Every week we visit the schools of migrant workers’ children and provide them with foreign teacher’s English classes and activity sessions. We visit the schools twice weekly – on a Friday afternoon and Saturday morning. We are currently seeking a Program Co-ordinator, which includes meeting the volunteers and taking them to the schools for every session, recruiting volunteers, monitoring teaching, giving feedback to volunteer teachers and running each session at the school.
Foster home for blind orphans needs a Chinese -> English Translator
Bethel is a foster-home for blind, Chinese orphans (www.bethelchina.org / http://media.bethelchina.org/Media/Videos/Bethel_2011_HD.flv) situated near DouDian, about an hours drive from Beijing. Bethel is not just a home, but a school, organic farm, training center and funland as well. We’re looking for someone willing and able to translate documents and files from Chinese to English. Work can be done from the comfort of your own home/dorm room/palace.
